Just a quicky because of a video I saw on youtube today.
I love science fiction. I mean I really really love that stuff. I am a total geek when it comes to that. I literally grew up with Star Trek and X-Files. I still watch these kind of series. Right now I am watching Warehouse13 but I am no stranger to stuff like Torchwood, Star Wars, Outer Limits, Sliders, and much much muuuuch more.
The thing is. I am not a kid anymore. I don’t just believe whatever I see on TV or whatever someone says on the radio.
I do consider the possibility of aliens and of space travel in the far future. I have no proof for these things but I think they are likely.
This does not mean that I will run around with all kinds of crazy ideas in my mind, crafting tinfoil hats and investigating crop circles.
I haven’t read a lot of Asimov’s foundation and so on but my husband has. And he retold some of the stories and concepts to me because I enjoy listening to these stories a lot.
Asmiov, as I understand it, is pretty much the father of SciFi. Most stories we know nowadays are somewhat based on his work. He had a lot of great ideas and wrote book after book after book, in such detail that “amazing” is an understatement.
At work I listened to a guy on youtube. He was interviewed a few times by radio stations. He explained about his REAL time travel. He explains about how he ended up in different time periods up to the 28th century. He explains how he spent time in these periods, how societies worked and so on.
I must say I enjoyed listening to it because he sounded like this is a real account of what happened to him and sadly I didn’t have the time yet to research the guy a bit more (will do tomorrow though).
Now I have to wonder, does he really believe what he is saying or is he maybe mentally ill? Was it a press stunt? Is this how he makes his money – by fooling the simple minds into believing that these things happened to him?
Or – and that’s very unlikely to my current knowledge – did it really happen to him?
I don’t want to call the guy a liar but to the best of my knowledge and understanding of the world, which is limited, I admit, I cannot take this as factual. There is so much Asimov in what the guy talks, that my uneducated guess is more him being a little crazy or that it was some kind of press stunt…
Opinions, sources, and links are welcome.
Here is the video I am talking about, have fun:
In this video he continues after explaining how he ended up in the 22nd century and stayed there in a hospital. From the hospital, he says, he was somehow pulled or moved to the 28th century. That’s where this video starts.
